East Zone concessionaire Manila Water recently inaugurated one of its flagship projects that seeks to boost water security and service reliability for its more than 7.4 million customers in eastern Metro Manila and Rizal Province. This major water project augurs well with the government’s “Build Better More” program, which prioritizes the build of infrastructure as a key engine for growth and economic development.

The P181-billion Service Improvement Plan of East Zone concessionaire Manila Water anchored on the four pillars of sustainability perfectly aligns with the thrust of government to build more infrastructure that are climate resilient, support conservation and reduce risks brought about by disasters.

Manila Water held the ceremonial commissioning of the Novaliches-Balara Aqueduct 4 (NBAQ4) in Quezon City. The new aqueduct, which will convey up to 1,000 million liters of water per day (MLD), will pave the way for the inspection, assessment, and subsequent rehabilitation of three other existing aqueducts, which have been operating since 1929, 1956, and 1968, respectively, to help ensure continuous water supply for more than 7 million customers in the East Zone.

East Zone concessionaire Manila Water continues to invest in the rehabilitation of its existing facilities and building of new infrastructure to ensure water service continuity in its service areas in Metro Manila and Rizal Province amidst challenges in aging facilities and risks associated with natural disasters and impacts of climate change.

To avert any future water shortage and to meet the demand of its increasing customer base, Manila Water is embarking on a service improvement plan focused on water security and sustainability.
