Manila Water strengthens its wastewater master plan in support of sustainable development

After 25 years of operations, Manila Water Company, Inc. has made huge headway in growing its wastewater services in the East Zone concession area. From a single sewage treatment plant in 1997, Manila Water now operates 41 treatment facilities, increasing the company’s wastewater treatment capacity by 1,025%, from 40 million liters per day (MLD) at the start of operations to 410 MLD at present.

Angat Hydroelectric Power Plant turbine repairs won’t affect Metro Manila’s water supply

The rehabilitation of Auxiliary Turbine Unit No. 2 (AU#2) at the Angat Hydroelectric Power Plant (AHEPP) is scheduled to begin on 8 August 2022 to 8 April 2023. While normal dam operations will be affected by the repair, the risk to water supply is low as the dam will maintain its ability to release water through the by-passes of the auxiliary turbines and the operation of the Low-Level outlet.  An alarm system that alerts operators to sudden decreases in flow detected by stream gauges will prevent domestic allocation from being reduced. The allocation of 48 cubic meters per second (CMS) to MWSS Concessionaires is guaranteed, and there will be no to minimal disruption in water supply operations.

Manila Water builds another water treatment plant at Laguna Lake to serve more Rizal towns

To fulfill its commitment of providing quality water service to the underserved areas in the East Zone, Manila Water is currently building the East Bay Water Treatment Plant (WTP) that will draw water from the eastern part of Laguna Lake, considered the cleanest portion of the lake. The East Bay WTP is part of the East Bay Water Supply System Project that seeks to expand Manila Water’s services to more towns in Rizal Province.
