Laguna Water holds interactive learning sessions among public school learners to encourage the youth to take part in ensuring water sustainability.

Highlighting the fact that climate change and environmental degradation put water quality and quantity at risk, employee volunteers of the company dedicate their day to teaching over 250 Grade 7 students of Don Jose Integrated High School, Santa Rosa City how to become responsible water users. As input to the students’ science subject, volunteers also share vital information on waste management, specifically on domestic wastewater treatment and solid waste segregation. Learners are, likewise, reminded of the importance of clean water in maintaining proper hygiene and overall wellness.

"We owe it to the younger generation to take concrete actions towards sustainability. We are thankful to Laguna Water for the initiative to provide information and meaningful experience to our students so they can also become responsible custodians of our natural resources," Teacher and Wash-in-Schools Coordinator Arlene Gaspard said.

In addition to the learning sessions, the company also donated hygiene products to the students and gave cleaning materials to the school under the company’s Linis Eskwela program. Twelve other schools in the Province of Laguna received similar donations in a bid to help maintain proper sanitation and hygiene in their facilities and among students.

Meanwhile, Laguna Water General Manager, Constantine Uy, reiterated the importance of engaging the youth about the concerns on proper water use and sanitation.

"Access to clean water and sanitation is a fundamental human right, and it is essential for the health and well-being of individuals and communities. Today's youth are the leaders of tomorrow, and they have a critical role to play in ensuring everyone has access to these necessities. By promoting water conservation, investing in innovative technologies, and advocating programs that prioritize water and sanitation, we can create a more sustainable future for all. Let us work together to build a world where every person, regardless of age, gender, or background, has access to clean water and sanitation," shared Uy.

Laguna Water conducted these activities as part of its 14th-anniversary celebration and to thank its partners and stakeholders for their continuous support to the company. The company also hopes that such efforts can contribute to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 6 – Clean Water and Sanitation and Goal 3 – Good Health and Well-being.
