MWSS approves Q4 FCDA effective October 13

The Board of Trustees of the Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System (MWSS) has approved the fourth-quarter Foreign Currency Differential Adjustment (FCDA) of 2.43% of the basic charge, equivalent to P0.69 per cubic meter, effective October 13, 2019. The FCDA is only a pass-through device and has no impact on the projected net income of the company.

Water availability for Manila Water customers reaches 100%

Despite the still below-normal supply allocation, Manila Water has been able to restore 24-hour water availability to 100% of its customers in Metro Manila’s East Zone, with at least 7 pounds per square inch (psi) of pressure, reaching only up to the ground floor. Starting from a 150-million liter per day (MLD) of deficit last March to almost 350 MLD in late June when the National Water Resources Board (NWRB) reduced its allocation for domestic use in Metro Manila from Angat Dam, Manila Water has successfully narrowed the supply gap with increased production in its Cardona Water Treatment Plant in Rizal, the rehabilitation of existing deepwells and construction of new wells across the East Zone, and the efficient reduction of its system loss or Non-Revenue Water (NRW).

Manila Water to spend P115B more on sewerage—Marikina, Pasig want to fast-track projects

Manila Water will spend P115 billion more to complete its sewerage program by 2037. To date, Manila Water operates 38 STPs and 2 septage treatment plants with a total capacity of 310 MLD. "Since 1997 when we took over the East Zone, we have spent P38.5 billion on our wastewater programs from collections of only P36.9 billion. So, we have excess investments of P1.6 billion and we expect this trend to continue," said Manila Water Chief Operating Officer Abelardo P. Basilio.

Manila Water fast-tracks its sewer pipelaying in Pasig City

As part of the South Pasig Package 1B Sewer Network, pipelaying activities will be done along C. Raymundo Ave. from Guanio St. to Mercedes Ave. Pipelaying will be done from September 1, 2019 to January 15, 2020.     Works will be conducted 24 hours a day, seven days a week, for this entire duration. The Pasig City administration has requested that this segment be fast-tracked, to help alleviate traffic congestion in the area.

Manila Water completes power supply transfer at Luzon Treatment Plant

Manila Water has successfully completed its facility upgrade activity at its treatment plant located at Luzon Ave., Brgy. Holy Spirit, Quezon City. The three-night activity involved the transfer of power from generator-sets to inline Meralco power.
