Manila Water bags Pangasinan Bulk Water Supply Project

The Provincial Government of Pangasinan (PGP) presented the Notice of Award for the development, financing, construction, operation and maintenance of a bulk water facility within the Province of Pangasinan under a Concession Agreement to the consortium of Manila Water Company, Inc. and its wholly owned subsidiary Manila Water Philippine Ventures, Inc.

In September 2016, the Consortium submitted an unsolicited proposal to PGP. After the initial evaluation of Pangasinan Public-Private Partnership Selection Committee (PPP-SC), a Notice of Acceptance was issued in November 2018. Negotiations ensued and Joint Certifications of Successful Negotiations was signed in July 2019.

The water company is expected to invest PhP8 billion over the 25-year contract duration for the implementation of capital expenditure programs that will increase water supply in the Province.

Upon completion of conditions precedent, Manila Water’s consortium will sign a concession agreement with the provincial government to implement the development of the bulk water supply project that will provide as much as 200 million liters of water per day by year 25.

Manila Water serves more than 7 million people in the East Zone of Metro Manila and Rizal Province while subsidiary Manila Water Philippine Ventures operates bulk water supply projects in the Province of Cebu and in Tagum, Davao del Norte as well as provides water and wastewater services in other key metropolitan areas which include Batangas, Laguna, Bulacan, Pampanga, Boracay, Iloilo, and Samar, among others.
