As the country experiences one of the warmest summers brought about by El Niño, Manila Water ensures adequate water supply to hospitals and schools in its concession area.

The water company is currently ensuring uninterrupted water supply to 173 public and 210 private hospitals, as well as to 916 public and 999 private schools in the East Zone of Metro Manila and Rizal Province.

“Together with the national government, we take public health and safety as our prime concerns. Especially now that our kids have classes during the summer, schools need more support from the company,” Manila Water’s Corporate Communications Affairs Director Jeric Sevilla said.

On top of this measure, the water company, through the Manila Water Foundation, has been rolling out the Lingap Program to identified hospitals and schools. The program undertakes the rehabilitation of water lines leading to these public institutions and provides technical assistance on the repairs of their internal reticulation systems. These identified institutions primarily serve low-income communities.

Since it began in 2000, Manila Water’s Lingap program has completed projects for various institutions which included 496 schools, 22 hospitals, 12 detention centers, 20 barangay halls, 11 daycare centers, 10 orphanages, and 21 other institutions such as health centers, public markets, churches, parks, and stadiums.
