NOTICE TO THE PUBLIC

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Manila Water Company, Inc. (“Manila Water”), concessionaire of Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System (“MWSS”) providing water and sewerage services to the East Zone service area of Metro Manila and the Province of Rizal, has submitted an Application for Extension of its March 31, 2021 Revised Concession Agreement with the MWSS (“RCA”). The application seeks the extension of the expiration date of the RCA from July 31, 2037 to July 31, 2047, to coincide with the term of Manila Water’s 25-year legislative franchise.

The Application for Extension is submitted in accordance with Section 5 of Republic Act No. 11601, the third paragraph of which provides:

When public interest for affordable water security so requires and upon application of the grantee, MWSS shall be authorized to approve the amendment of the Concession Agreement to extend its term up to the term of the franchise, after appropriate notice and hearing.

The public is invited to submit their comments and feedback through any of the following modes:

a. By hand or registered mail to MWSS Regulatory Office, Katipunan Avenue, corner H. Venturea Street, Barangay Pansol, Balara, Quezon City 1108;

c. By online completion and submission through Google Forms accessible via https://tinyurl.com/ManilaWaterPositionPaper.

The deadline for submission of comments is thirty (30) calendar days after publication of this Notice or on October 18, 2023.
