In line with the observance of National Disaster Consciousness Month in July, Manila Water prepares to energize all eight (8) emergency reservoirs the company constructed to help promote disaster risk reduction and preparedness of cities and municipalities in Metro Manila’s East Zone. 

These emergency reservoirs (ER) are intended to provide potable water in evacuation centers and help augment supply during calamities and disasters such as typhoons and earthquakes.

The emergency reservoirs are located at Amoranto Stadium, Pinyahan Elementary School, Project 6 Elementary School, Quirino Elementary School, Emilio Aguinaldo in Quezon City; Cainta Elementary School in Barangay San Roque, Cainta; Mayamot Elementary School in Antipolo City; and San Juan Elementary School in San Juan.

The ERs in Amoranto Stadium and Quirino Elementary School are targeted to be energized this month by connecting to the water network, making it ready for use in times of emergency. ERs in Pinyahan Elementary School and Project 6 Elementary School have been successfully energized recently.

The ERs are designed to be resilient to earthquakes and resistant to floods. The underground tanks have a holding capacity of 50 to 100 cubic meters, capable of providing potable water to up to 10,000 evacuees for three days.
