Manila Water currently operates 37 deepwells across the East Zone, yielding up to 46.21 million liters per day (MLD) of water as of March 16, 2020. This helps supplement supply to ensure water availability in light of the COVID-19 pandemic. Over thirty (30) new deep wells are currently under construction to reach the target deepwell yield of 100 MLD.

Manila Water Corporate Strategic Affairs Group Head Jeric T. Sevilla said the additional yield from deepwells are necessary to help meet the demand of customers while new water sources are being completed. “The operation of these deep wells is vital to maintaining our service at 24/7 supply at 7 psi or pressure up to the ground level, even with increasing demand due to rising temperatures as well as hygiene needs to help avert the spread of COVID-19,” Sevilla adds.
