Manila Water’s Toka Toka caravan invades Taytay, Rizal

Over 500 kids and their parents in 48 day care centers in Taytay, Rizal joined the latest Toka Toka caravan of Manila Water to spread the the first and only movement on used water management. The caravan boasts of an extensive IEC campaign on used water management together with General Service Office of the Taytay Municipal Government which advocates proper solid waste management as one of four ownable acts.

More than 500 schoolchildren and their parents joined the Toka Toka caravan of Manila Water as it made the rounds of 48 day care centers in Taytay, Rizal to advocate for environmental protection. Toka Toka is the first and only used water advocacy movement in the country.

Manila Water’s Advocacy and Research Department led by Fernando Busuego conducted learning sessions in five barangays in Taytay including barangays Dolores, Muzon, San Juan, Sta.Ana and San Isidro, in partnership with the local government’s General Services Office.

Among those discussed in the integrated Information Education and Communication (IEC) campaign learning sessions are the importance of used water management and the provisions and importance of solid waste management under the Ecological Solid Waste Management Act or Republic Act of 9003.

Busuego said the orientation, which included a puppet show, aims to educate and teach parents and kids alike on the proper waste segregation in their respective communities.
