This February, Manila Water Foundation celebrates 18 years of championing Water Access, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH), enabling change for marginalized communities across the Philippines. Within the month, MWF will continue to lead inaugurations of hand-hygiene facilities in schools and barangays, environment and livelihood capacity- building sessions and handovers of hygiene supplies. MWF will also host a partners’ event to honor its current and new partners.

Manila Water Foundation, the social development arm of the Manila Water enterprise, celebrates 18 years of animating the mission of bringing WASH for all communities.

Since 2005, Manila Water Foundation has been championing water access, sanitation, and hygiene or WASH through multi-sectoral and public-private collaboration.

This February, month-long activities are lined up in gratitude to partners and serve with more communities. On February 10, in partnership with P&G Safeguard Philippines and Light Rail Transit Authority (LRTA), MWF will be handing over hygiene products to commuters and encourage proper handwashing through portable handwashing stations in select stations of the LRT-2. The activity aims to promote a safe commute through proper hand hygiene.

Reaching out to a cultural community, Manila Water Foundation will be heading to Sitio Sapang Munti, a Dumagat community within the Ipo Watershed. Hygiene products will be handed over to families and complement the newly installed water system inaugurated last December 2022. A donation handover with P&G Philippines will also be held for the benefit of scholars supported by the Philippine Jesuit Prison Service in Muntinlupa City.

Within the month, Manila Water Foundation will lead inaugurations of multi-faucet hand hygiene facilities in schools and barangays through Lingap Eskwela and Ahon Sanggunian projects in Quezon City, Batangas, and Cebu. Under MWF’s Project Katig, an environment and livelihood initiative, a capacity-building session will be held in partnership with the fisherfolk of Cardona, Rizal.

To cap off the series of activities, Manila Water Foundation will host a partners’ event to recognize 18 current partners and begin synergies with 18 new partners.

Focusing on the human experience, Manila Water Foundation started a series of stories through its social media segment "WASH Your Story". This turns the spotlight on the transformation and positive change through environmental programs and WASH. This year’s anniversary theme opens the series of anniversary themes leading up to Manila Water Foundation’s 20th anniversary: two decades of championing environment programs and WASH.
