The Cantumog-Luyang River is the sustainable surface water source of the Cebu Bulk Water Supply Project, which provides 35 million liters per day of bulk water in northern and central portions of Cebu.

Cebu Manila Water Development, Inc. (Cebu Water) made history with the delivery of an initial 18 million-liters-per-day (MLD) bulk water supply to Metro Cebu Water District (MCWD) on January 5, 2015.

With the assistance extended by Manila Water Company, the system was energized at 9:00 p.m. of the said day. Cebu Water will increase its bulk water delivery to 35 MLD by the same time the following year. Cebu Water has also identified other bulk water and distribution opportunities that will sustain the momentum of this maiden project.

Formed through a joint investment agreement between the Provincial Government of Cebu and Cebu Water, the bulk water supply project is the first large-scale surface water system in the province and is expected to augment the delivery of water services in the areas covered by MCWD.
