Manila Water Foundation (MWF), in partnership with BPI Foundation (BPIF) will embark on a P1.5-M water supply recovery and improvement project in San Jose, Dinagat Islands.

Aligned with the "Build Back Better" principle, the project intends to strengthen and improve the water access to 3,000 households being served by the San Jose Dinagat Island Water District (SJDIWD) after being damaged by Typhoon Rai (Odette) in 2021.

Through this synergy, MWF and BPIF provided two water chlorinators in September 2022 to automate the water disinfection process by the water district. Two capacity trainings were also conducted and were attended by the SJDIWD technical teams for Safety (in chlorine handling) and an Operations and Maintenance Training in using the water chlorinator.

This month, Manila Water Foundation with a team of WASH technical volunteers are set to return to the island and provide additional Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs) to the SJDIWD, and proceed with the work plan to ensure clean, potable water for the communities in the Dinagat Island.
