Hygiene kits for frontline volunteers, health workers deployed under Agapay Sanitasyon
Manila Water Foundation believes in the crucial role of proper sanitation and hygiene in combating the spread of the coronavirus that caused the COVID-19 pandemic. Through its Agapay Sanitasyon program, MWF partnered with like-minded organizations bring hygiene and sanitation products to households in Barangay Labangon, Cebu City and health workers in Metro Manila.
Following the growing number of cases in Barangay Labangon, Cebu City, the community has been placed under a lockdown which led its residents to call for help. In coordination with Estate Water - Cebu, an operating division under the Manila Water Philippine Ventures (MWPV), MWF sent 600 bundles of laundry detergent and 1,200 pieces of bath soaps for affected households.
Supporting the initiative of Philippine Disaster Resilience Foundation (PDRF) and Airbnb to temporarily house health workers in Metro Manila, MWF provided nearly 300 pieces of hygiene kits that would complement their stay and help prevent the spread of the virus. The kits contain bleach, disinfectant spray, alcohol, soap, and laundry detergent. One of the recipients of the donations, Avitel Hotel, sent a message of thanks. “Providing these cleaning and disinfectant materials is a big help to make sure our rooms are not only comfortable to stay but also safe—safe for every hero who fights COVID-19,” they said in a statement.
Agapay Sanitasyon is a disaster response program that provides hygiene and sanitation interventions to disaster-affected families and individuals. To date, MWF and its partners have given away nearly 5,000 pieces of hygiene kits under the program amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
