Complete Alignment of Business Goals and CSR Initiatives
For nearly ten years now, Manila Water has been delivering water and wastewater services to more than five million customers within the eastern part of Metro Manila. Often recognized as one of the most successful public-private partnerships in the region, the Company has achieved significant milestones in its business. It was able to transform a public sector company into a financially stable and socially responsible private company.
Manila Water has delivered more water to more customers over the years. It has doubled its billed volume to 992 million liters per day (mld) as of March 2007 from only 440 mld when it started in 1997. This is the highest billed volume recorded to date. Its customer base has expanded to over 900 thousand households from only 325 thousand ten years ago, with about half of the newly served population coming from the marginalized communities within its concession area.
Marikina City and Manila Water observe WASH Day
Manila Water and Marikina City joined forces to commemorate Water Sanitation & Hygiene Day, more popularly known as WASH Day. The said event was also in celebration of Earth Day and the International Year of Sanitation.
Manila Water, Makati Elementary School initiate partnership for the environment
In a move to instill environmental awareness in schoolchildren, Manila Water Company and Makati Elementary School initiated the establishment of an environmental corner in the school with the hope that other educational institutions would follow suit.
Manila Water joins Makati in climate change seminar
As a staunch environmental advocate, Makati City hosted a seminar on climate change conducted by D. Nathaniel Cruz, Weather Services Chief of PAGASA. The seminar which focused on the detrimental effects of not only global warming but those brought about by abnormal changes of the atmospheric condition of our climate.
