Guiding Principles

Manila Water is guided by a set of principles that governs its employees' daily activities and interactions. These can be summarized in two simple, but powerful words: We care...

...for every Customer. We strive to provide the best quality of service to every customer at a reasonable cost. This means, among other things, that water flowing from our pipelines should always be reliable and safe for drinking. We are committed to investing in capital expenditures that will deliver quality of service at par with our counterparts in the region.

... for our People. We envision a fun and nurturing work environment that provides our employees with limitless career opportunities, rewards competence and hard work, ensures health and safety, and brings out the innovative spirit, teamwork and leadership potential of our people.

...for the Environment. Future generations should continue to enjoy the same benefits from the environment as earlier generations did. We will do our part in protecting the environment and restoring natural resources that have seen years of neglect and misuse.

...for our Shareholders. We will enhance shareholder value by ensuring that profits continue to grow and capital resources are used wisely and efficiently. The basic rights of every shareholder, including the right to information, should be protected at all times, but without compromising the best interests of the company as a whole.

...for the Urban Poor. Every individual should have access to clean, affordable water and decent sanitation services. In the process of delivering these basic water and sanitation services to urban poor communities, we encourage them to organize themselves and become more self-reliant.

Aside from customers, employees and shareholders, Manila Water has other stakeholders that are also integral to the company’s success. These stakeholders include, among others, regulators, bank creditors, service providers and non-governmental organizations (NGOs). By forging lasting partnerships with each stakeholder, we ensure the long-term survival of our company.
