The Technological Institute of the Philippines goes environmental with the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Manila Water Company to assist in the reforestation of the Ipo Watershed area in Bulacan.
The Marine Department, CE and SE departments, SOCIP, HRD, OSA and other non-teaching departments of TIP’s Manila and Quezon City campuses participated in the Adopt-a-Watershed Program of the Ayala-owned East Zone Concessionaire.
The 6,600-hectare Ipo Watershed area has been identified as one of the critical watersheds sustaining the water supply for Metro Manila with nearly 60% of Ipo’s forest cover gone.
Manila Water has been at the forefront of environmental protection through its advocacies and programs not only on watershed management but also in wastewater treatment, sanitation services through its desludging program and groundwater management and protection.

Present during the landmark MOU signing were (seated from left to right) Noel Abesamis, Manila Water New Water Sources Manager, Vicente Elefante, MWSS Asset Management Department Manager (representing Administrator Lorenzo Jamora), Dr. Elizabeth Q. Lahoz, TIP President, Moises H. Butic, PENRO of DENR Bulacan, and officials and personnel of TIP, Manila Water and the local government of Bulacan.
