The Regulatory Office of the Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System (MWSS RO) and Ayala-led East Zone concessionaire Manila Water have slated community public consultations in light of the latter’s submission of its service plan to the former which will commence in 2008.
As part of the rate rebasing exercise, the MWSS RO is currently reviewing the performance of Manila Water for the preceding five years from 2003-2007 versus its target service obligations and is also evaluating the water and wastewater service provider’s plan for the succeeding years. The MWSS RO is also expected to come up with the appropriate tariff to implement the capital expenditure plan of Manila Water which includes expanding water coverage, ensuring reliability and sustainability of water supply, harnessing new water sources and implementing a wastewater master plan.
Five (5) community public consultations will be held which include Kasiglahan in Rodriguez, Rizal on November 12; El Dorado in Antipolo on November 13; Taguig and Quezon City in Metro Manila on November 14 and in Barangay Pag-asa in Binangonan, also in Rizal on November 15. A major public consultation is expected to be conducted immediately after completion of the community public consultations.
