Manila Water Training Director Erick Reyes chronicles the East Zone concessionaire’s more-than-a-decade transformation since 1997 when it took over the operation, distribution and maintenance of water and wastewater services of eastern Metro Manila and Rizal Province.
Senior officials and supervisors from RI Chemical Corporation were amazed at the phase by which the provision of 24-hour water supply for East Metro’s six million residents reached 99% by the end of 2008, ten years after it started taking over the MWSS-run service area. Reyes mentioned that the company invested heavily in the development of its human resource which it believes continues to be its greatest resource. The participants were given a tour of Manila Water’s water and wastewater treatment plants in Balara, Quezon City as part of Manila Water’s Lakbayan program, an information, education and communication program designed to instill environmental awareness among the general public. Elated about the tour were top officials of RI Chemical Corporation headed by Carolina R. Carlos, VP for Finance; Elizabeth Stephanie C. Clavecillas, VP for Purchasing; Jose Maria G. Carlos, AVP for Communications, Talent and Organizational Development; Elenita S. Mangubat, AVP for Finance; Fortunato C. Ilaya, AVP for Marketing; Ronald R. Sobrevinas, R&D Manager and Ricardo M. Sampang, General Manager for Chem Insurance.
