Manila Water pursues water improvement of health centers

Posted: Wednesday January 30, 2008

After rehabilitating the water supply systems of major public hospitals within the East Concession area, Manila Water has started pursuing the improvement of water facilities in the various health centers within the East Zone, including that of the province of Rizal.

Photo shows Antipolo Provincial Health Officer Dr. Antonio Reillo, Jr., Capt. Oscar Tamayo and Manila Water Business Group Director Rene Almendras as they turn on the faucets to show clean water from the taps during the recent Mambugan Health Center inauguration.

Health centers are commonly visited by an average of 250 patients a week and are normally manned by about 30 staff with about 25 volunteers. Just recently, Manila Water inaugurated the rehabilitated water systems of two health centers in Mambugan and Sta. Cruz, both in Antipolo, Rizal. A drinking cum wash area has also been installed in each health center which also serves as a water quality testing point.

The local government officials of Antipolo were very pleased with this project as they have also intensified their advocacies for health and sanitation in the city.
