Manila Water again added to its ever-growing collection of honors when it earned five awards in the 45th Anvil Awards sponsored by the Public Relations Society of the Philippines in ceremonies held at the EDSA Plaza Hotel last Friday. The five citations duplicate a similar feat in the prestigious program in 2006, when the company won two awards of excellence and three awards of merit. This time, the 12-year-old company garnered five awards of merit from the program dubbed the "Oscar of public relations practice" in the Philippines. These are for its annual report entitled "Chronicling Corporate Highlights: Rising Above the Waters," which earned a citation in the public relations tools category, the "Sikap sa Kabuhayan Para sa Dumagats" program and the "Water Trail Program: A Fun-Filled Water Education Trip," both for PR programs directed at a specific stakeholder, the "Disaster Mitigation Measures: Prompt Action Saves Lives" in the category of special public relations projects on a one-time basis, and the "Reforestation Equates to Watershed Protection" for public relations program on a sustained basis. The awards are an affirmation of Manila Water's efforts in protecting the environment, which three of the programs are primarily trying to accomplish, as well as in providing excellent service to its customers, which its program on disaster mitigation focused on during Typhoon Ondoy as it tried to promptly restore water service to affected customers.
