San Juan City Mayor JV Ejercito (fourth from left) and NWRB Executive Director Ramon Alikpala (fourth from right) agreed that the LGU would pursue a city ordinance stopping establishments from overextracting groundwater. All establishments in the city that will continue to use deep well exceeding the mandated maximum allowable extraction rate of five cubic meters per month shall be penalized for violating the said ordinance. The MOA signing ceremony was also attended by Vice Mayor Leonardo Celles, San Juan City Councilors, led by Councilor Domingo Sese who introduced the ordinance, and officials of the Manila Water Company.
